Hi there! I’m Jordan Pidwell, a passionate advocate for youth voice and participation. My work has taken me into exciting spaces where I collaborate with organisations to ensure that young people have a say in the decisions that shape their lives. Whether it's working with local councils or integrated care boards, I’m driven by amplifying youth voices and foster meaningful change. Over the past year, I’ve dedicated myself to empowering the next generation, making sure their perspectives are not just heard but valued and acted upon - and that they gain meaningful skills along the way.
Beyond my paid work, I volunteer with the Scouts, where I help deliver programs locally and serve as the Chair of Trustees for Cornwall Scouts. I’m also part of the Scouts' UK Trustee Board, sit on the safety committee, and am part of the strategy working group, contributing to shaping the organisation's future untli 2035. In late 2023 and early 2024, I also served as a member of the operational review panel following the World Scout Jamboree in Korea!
Before diving into youth engagement, I spent some time behind bars—no, not that kind! I worked in hospitality, where I became a pro at pouring the perfect pint, mixing with people, and learned that it's always best to plan ahead! My focus was on ensuring the sports clubs I worked with secured fantastic sponsorship deals, thanks to the exceptional service from our bar team during hospitality events. My love for learning and community led me to the University of Exeter, where I studied Geography and graduated in 2023. Shortly after, I took on the role of Youth Voice and Influence Officer, but as of August 2024, I've decided to pivot and explore new career opportunities.
I've always believed in going the extra mile, both professionally and personally. I’m the proud holder of a Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and a Queen's Scout Award, and during my university years, I even won two awards for my services to the community. These experiences have shaped my commitment to making a difference and ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard, especially those who often go unheard.
When I'm not busy working or volunteering, I like to unwind by spending time outdoors and with my hobbies. I love walking our family dog, who never fails to keep me on my toes, and I find peace tending to my houseplants and the plants in my greenhouse. Playing the piano is another one of my passions, and it’s a great way to relax. I am also proud to be part of an award winning male voice choir.
Everybody I speak to gets the chance to know that I’m from the beautiful county of Cornwall, as no matter where my projects take me, I always bring a bit of Cornish charm along for the ride. I’m proud of my roots and the unique perspective they bring to my work. Whether it’s through my involvement in the Scouts, my advocacy for others' voices to be heard, or my everyday interactions, I aim to bring positivity and a touch of fun to everything I do.
Thanks for stopping by my corner of the internet—it's great to have you here!
